Special thanks to Jane and Commander Clyde Terrell, our FestiVELO photographers

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

THANK YOU: There are so many wonderfully dedicated and proud volunteers that bring FestiVELO to life.

The first ones you will likely meet are Susie & Bubber Robertson. Susie has been enduring registration since we were on John’s Island. Bubber helps in all areas.

Clyde and Jane Terrell will be close by. They also support many areas, but the most noted is they took all the pictures last year.

Roger Wolsey is already arrived from Hendersonville, NC and is putting up signs, and setting up.

Awesome Alice will not make it this year. We will miss her rest stop treats. We pray for her speedy return to full health soon.

Cindy and Jeff Gaver from Black Mountain have been key leaders and helpers for years.

Chuck and Jennie Connor from Sherrill’s Ford do so much. They have been part of the team for so long that they think and see needs before they come up.

Ginny Prevost will be supporting the McClellanville rest stop for the second year.

Sister Diane is ably in charge of rest stops with a team of reliable volunteers.

George Southern has taken care of the web site and helped in many computer areas for two years.

Son Daniel and Libby and Cheese and other close partners of Daniel and Libby take care of the later night snacks at the grill, movie, and oyster areas.

Jason Usry enters all the mail in forms, organizes the data and takes care of the registration information.

Bessie will process all the credit card payments and is at my side, for more years that she looks.

Magic Matthews will be Santa on Saturday, will be SAG on Thursday, and will be boiling of peanuts most days.

Matthews, Jason, Bessie, Daniel and I all work together in our “real jobs”

There are so many in the Charleston and Summerville area that offer so much time. FestiVELO could not exist without the hours and hours that John and Donna Pardee give to marking routes, making cue sheets, running SAG, baking treats and so much more. They do more than anyone else, and that is saying a lot, because there are those that have a deep passion for FestiVELO.

A special thanks to Missee Fox for leading the Chocolate Obsession Garden and allowing me so much focus on this event.

Our parents Joan and Maurice Fox will host us Saturday night at Dockside; a true Southern couple; great parents, wonderful grandparents and when we worked together, terrific boss!

(Editor's Note: And a SPECIAL THANKS to

Mr. FestiVELO, a.k.a. SANTA, a.k.a. CHARLES FOX,

who makes it all happen!)

Fes.ti'VELO (fes te VAY low), n.

1) A peaceful relaxing week (or weekend), making lots of new, life-long friends and rekindling annual relationships.

2) An eating frenzy with 16 all-you-can-eat meals: steamed oysters, Southern BBQ, seafood, Greek Fest & Treats, Happy Hour, and The Chocolate Obsession Garden. Also, always lots of veggie options. (If you have special needs for food and fuel, let us know at least two weeks before and we will meet your needs.)

3) 12th annual family-oriented bicycle weekend near Charleston, S.C., & more fun than you can imagine, centered just north of Moncks Corner, off Highway 52.

4) Camping, RV, cabin or hotel.

5) Up to four days of cycling with distances from 15 to 100 miles. Rides start and end at same location for the four days but follow different routes.

6) SEE SANTA and the BIG BICYCLE.

7) See Mepkin Abbey, McClellanville, many other historic sites on mostly rural routes in remote areas near Lake Moultrie and the Francis Marion National Forest.

8) Family Fun ON and OFF the saddle.

9) Non- rider activities and interesting "happenings" each day (click on "FUN ACTIVITIES" at left).

10) Choose WHEN, WHERE, and HOW FAR you want to ride, and what MEALS you want to eat. It's all up to you!

FestiVELO is an all-volunteer organization of bicyclists and friends with the purpose of putting on an event that exceeds the needs and expectations of cyclists in order to raise funds to benefit bicycle causes. Charles Moves www.CharlestonMoves.org , Palmetto Cycling Coalition www.pccsc.net and other bicycle advocacy organizations receives the proceeds from FestiVELO.
