We appreciate your inquiries, and hope we can answer all of them here!
(UNDER CONSTRUCTION)

I was in the registration process and realized I had several question I needed answered before I could finish the registration.  This will be our first trip to your event so I want to be sure I do it right.

When will the 2008 ride be announced? We are working on locking in the schedule and planning the ride out. As soon as we finalize everything we will make an announcement to let everybody know. We appreciate your patience as we work to ensure you and your family have an enjoyable time in wonderful South Carolina :) When will the website be updated? We try to maintain the website as often as possible to bring in frequent news and update information. We recently underwent two design changes to make the site easier to navigate but the process took a little longer than planned. If there is any problem with tracking down information on the site, please contact Alex and he will work to make sure the site is accessible and the information is clear.
What is the policy regarding refunds? Unfortunately, we can not offer refunds at this time.
  1. We will be using the tenting service – do we need to pay the $10 tenting fee or is that included in their fee? THE REGISTRATION TO RIDE INCLUDES A CAMP SITE FOR ONE PERSON. ONLY A NON-RIDER WOULD NEED TO PAY. THIS IS BECAUSE THE CITY MANDATES THAT WE HAVE A WRIST BAND ON I.D. ON ALL CAMPERS. SO AT NIGHT AND DURING THE DAY, IF THE POLICE POST A CENTURY, OR GUARD, THIS GUARD CAN EASILY TELL IF A PERSON SHOULD BE AB LE TO ACCESS THE CAMPING AREA. FRANKLY, THE AREA IS NOT ON A PATH OR ON ANY ONE’S ROUTE HOME, SO THERE IS NO REASON ANYONE BUT CAMPERS SHOULD BE THERE. BUT THE ONLY WAY WE COULD TRACK WAS BY ADDING A FEE IN THE REGISTRATION PROCESS. HOPE THIS HELPS
  1. I don’t quite understand the bus service.  Are the daytime bus rides for nonriders – will we as riders be going to these places on our rides?  Nighttime rides – If we choose to use our own car – do we still get free admission to the events or do we need to take the bus?  Is there a parking issue at the events and therefore we need to take the bus?  Any guidance on the bus would be appreciated. ON THE 60 MILE DISTANCES, THE RIDERS WILL PASS THE THRUSDAY AND SATURDAY BUS STOPS. ON THE FRIDAY ROUTE, THE NON RIDERS WILL SEE SOME HIGHLIGHTS, JUST A FEW, THAT THE ROUTE DOES NOT PASS, BUT THE GUIDED TOUR ON SUNDAY WILL PASS MOST OF THESE. THE EVENING BUS ON THURSDAY, TO THE LIGHTS, YOU CAN EASILY GO BY CAR, THE THERE IS A FEE, CHARGED BY THE PARK COMMISSION TO SEE THE LIGHTS. IF YOU ARE IN THE BUS, WE PAY THE FEE. I THINK IT IS THE SAME, SO YOU WILL SPEND THE SAME AMOUNT, BUT I COULD BE IN ACCURATE….. THE BUSES ARE FOR NON RIDERS, SO THEY CAN CATCH UP WITH FAMILY OR FRIENDS THAT RIDE AND ENJOY THE DAY WITH THE SAME. THERE IS PLENTY OF PARKING BUT ON THURSDAY, AS THE SUN SETS, THE TRAFFIC A THE FESTIVEL OF LIGHTS GETS LONG. THE SATURDAY NIGHT PARKING IS BETTER TO GO EARLY, GETINTO A PRKING DECK, WHICH THERE ARE SEVERAL AND WALK…
  1. Do most people stay Sunday night or do most leave on Sunday after the ride? MOST DO THE GUIDED HISTORIC TOURS ON SUNDAY, WHCH ARE DESIGNED TO BE 90 MINUTES, SOME GO LONGER OR SHORTER DEPENDING ON THE QUESTIONS THE RIDERS ASK AND DEPENDING ON THE DEPTAIL AND SPEED THE “GUIDE” SUPPORTS. THE FIRST TOUR IS AROUND 7:30 AND THEY LEAVE ABOUT EVERY 20-30 MINUTES WHEN THERE IS A GROUP OF 15…. WE HAVE A LUNCH WHEN YOU GET BACK, PACK, SHOWER AND HEAD HOME.
  2. Will T-Shirts be available? YES, WE WILL HAVE T SHIRTS FOR NON RIDERS AND FOR ONE DAY RIDERS AT A LOW PRICE.
WE ARE WAITNG ON ART WORK NOW, BUT IF WE GO SHORT SLEEVE, TEES WILL BE LESS THAN FIVE DOLLARS AND IF WE GO LONG SLEEVE LESS THAN 9 DOLLARS, BUT THIS DEPENDS ON THE COLORS IN THE ART WORK AND SIZES.
WE DO NOT PUT ADVERTISING OR SPONSORS ON OUR T SHIRTS

  3. Hi. thanks for responding to my email. i have a few more questions that i couldn't find answers to on your website. are there various mileage options each day and if so what are they?

EACH DAY THE ROUTES ARE MOSTLY OUT AND BACK, SO YOU CAN FLIP 180 DEGREES AND HEAD BACK AT ANY TIME. SO ON THURSDAY&  FRIDAY IT IS OUT AND BACK AND YOU CAN FILIP TO DO WHATEVER DISTACNE YOU LIKE. ON SATURDAY, THE SHORT ROUTE DOES NOT FOLLOW THE 60 & 100, SO YOU NEED TO COMMIT AROUND MILE 4 TO THE SHORT OR THE LONGER DISTNACES, ONCE YOU SELECT THE LONGER DISTANCES, YOU CAN BASICLY TURN AROUND AT ANY TIME TOO.

  4. To clarify it is $175 to register and that includes 4 lunches and for another $75 you get dinners and breakfasts? YOU ARE BREAKING THE RATES FOR THE RIDE BASED ON THE MATH OF THE FEE FOR THE NON RIDERS COST FOR ALL MEALS. YOUR MATH IS CORRECT, BUT THERE IS A HEAVEY DISCOUNT, NOT EQUAL AMOUNT. SO THE RIDE IS DISCOUNTED MORE THAN THE MEALS. YOUR MATH WORKS AND MAKES A VALID POINT, BUT YOU HAVE TO GRASP THAT THE DISCOUNT FOR THE MEASL IS NO WERE NEAR WHAT THE DISCOUNT IS FOR THE RIDES

  5. Can one pay $175 to register and then pay for the meals when we get there?

AS SOON AS WE EARN THE MENU FROM THE CATERING COMPANY WE WILL POST THE MEALS AND THE INDIVIDUAL RATES. YOU WILL BE ABLE TO BUY INADVANCE OR AT WALK UP ANY SINGLE MEAL

  6. I might decide not to eat every meal with the group. I EXPECT THE MEALS TO RANGE FROM AS LOW (ADVANCE) AS 8 DOLLARS FOR BREAKFAST TO 20 DOLLARS FOR DINNERS.  KEEP IN MIND THESE ARE ALL YOU CAN ENJOY MENUS. WALK UPS WILL BE SLIGHLY MORE, PROBABLY.

  7. What are the options for a bike rental for the FestiVelo? Is there an address that I can ship my bike and/or camping gear prior to the FestiVelo? If you would like to have the shop unpack and assemble your bicycle then ship to Charleston Bicycle Company. The number is 843 571 1211 and ask for mike or brad, please. If you would like to assemble yourself then send to our address below, we get UPS, FedEx, and DHL everyday. We have a loading dock and so forth. Pls note if you are camping, in which case we will have at registration for you, which is close to camp sites, or which hotel you are at and when you arrive and we will have it there, the morning you arrive and we will pick up and ship (after you pack) when you leave. If you wish to rent a bicycle, I think best bet is to let me know what size you are and likely one of my 14 bicycles will fit ya. I am not sure if any of the shops rent road bikes.
